The integrated, international oil, gas, and petrochemicals company- OMV AG is planning expansion and modernization of its cracker units and petrochemical cold section in Burghausen refinery (Germany).
Increasing demand for ethylene and propylene is encouraging the company to invest in increasing the production capacity of these refined products in Burghausen.
The upgrade plans will support an increase in ethylene and propylene production by around 50,000 metric tons. Capital expenditure for the expansion and upgrade project is estimated at $48 million.
Output from the product will cater to Bavarian Chemical Triangle and export markets, in particular, for automotive, renewables, medical, detergents, and other end users.
The company plans to complete the upgrade process and commence operations of the new units by the third quarter of 2022. Currently, the initial groundwork is in progress according to the company.
